History
Fernão Eanes de Lima, pertencente à linhagem ou grupo parental dos Limas, originário da Galiza, fixou-se no reino português, no final do século XIV, tendo sido compensado pelo apoio prestado a D. João I com um conjunto de bens e jurisdições na região minhota. Contraiu matrimónio com uma senhora linhagem dos Silva, D. Teresa da Silva, e assegurou a transmissão dos bens que recebeu de juro e herdade a seu filho Álvaro Rodrigues de Lima, que faleceu antes de 1429, sem descendência. Sucedeu-lhe o irmão, Leonel de Lima, que recebeu o título de visconde de Vila Nova de Cerveira, em 1476. A continuidade desta família/Casa foi assegurada pela transmissão do título e de mais bens da Coroa nos quais foram sucedendo os primogénitos varões até à morte do visconde D. Francisco de Lima, em 1578.
