Filho de Diogo Salema e Maria Salema. Não casou nem teve filhos. Foi seu herdeiro o seu primo, António Lobo Salema. A única referência a Cristóvão Salema, datada de 1597, surge numa carta de renúncia e trespasse em seu favor da sesmaria do Farilhão.
